About RECIRCULATE Project

The RECIRCULATE project  aims at increasing sustainability in the EV battery industry through a cascading approach with refurbishment and re-use of whole battery packs, battery modules and battery cells.

This approach will enable the maximization of the useful life of batteries, while retaining their value and maximizing use of their embedded energy and material costs. This is based on the 4R approach promoted by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which aims to prolong the useful life of products through Repair, Reuse, Remanufacture, and as a last resort, Recycling.

To achieve this, RECIRCULATE brings together a range of enabling solutions based on 6 pillars:

Pillar 1

1. SOX Characterisation

Pillar 2

2. Automated Dismantling

Pillar 3

3. Repair, Reuse and Remanufacture

Pillar 4

4. Fast and Accurate Sorting

Pillar 5

5. Safe Storage and Transportation

Pillar 6

6. Blockchain Battery Passport and Marketplace
