Recirculate Workshop: Powering Second Life: Workshop on the Repurposed Battery Value Chain

As new regulations and circular economy targets come into force, OEMs and battery supply chain participants face growing pressure to track materials, guarantee recycled content, and better understand the condition of batteries across their lifecycle.

Defining a clear second-life battery value chain is therefore essential to ensure traceability, support refurbishment and reuse, and enable reliable data flows between the many actors involved.

Within the RECIRCULATE project, funded by the European Union, Minespider will hold a workshop dedicated to Second Life Battery Value Chain. The session will introduce  the role of data governance, followed by partner insights on innovations developed in the RECIRCULATE project. The agenda also includes an interactive value chain mapping exercise and industry perspectives from DHL Supply Chain and Ford Otosan on implementation and adoption.

Who is this workshop for?

  • OEMs and automotive manufacturers
  • Battery manufacturers and technology providers
  • Recycling and refurbishment companies
  • Logistics operators and fleet managers
  • Researchers and innovation stakeholders
  • Policymakers and regulatory experts
  • Digital solution providers for battery traceability and data systems

What will you learn:

  • How the second-life battery value chain is taking shape and which stakeholders are driving its development
  • Why data governance is becoming a key enabler for second-life applications and what datasets matter most (usage history, testing records, chain-of-custody data)
  • What role standardization plays in building trust in the market, from State-of-Health testing to certification and battery identification
  • Where operational improvements are happening across collection, transport, testing, and refurbishment
  • Which innovations are helping make second-life batteries more viable and scalable
  • What the key bottlenecks and opportunities are for accelerating adoption of second-life batteries in the industry
